This month’s five dome shows were among the largest staged across The Rhapsody Tour, with the biggest of the Japanese venues holding around 55,000 spectators. Putting on such large shows was no mean feat, with tour manager Paddy Hocken noting in an email to The Japan Times that the Dome leg used as many as 180 trucks between venues and over 300 local crew.

It just so happened that on February 15, Queen + Adam Lambert was slated to play Sydney’s ANZ Stadium as part of their global Rhapsody Tour and the promoter, TEG Dainty, saw this as an ideal time to deliver a Live Aid-style bushfire benefit the following day.
As the last few weeks have unfolded, we as a world community are faced with something none of us have ever been through before. More specifically, with the absence of any public gatherings, the impact on our lives as touring professionals is, of course, very concerning. The audience are swept away on a musical trip to Ibiza. As the sun sets, a plane lands on the runway at Ibiza airport triggering a 12-hr party: from sunset to sunrise via Clubland. From authentic, iconic hints of Ibiza to stylised underwater sequences, immersing the audience within the action. From huge, monolithic live camera effects of Pete and Jules to multi-layered live cameras of instruments being played and samples triggered, helping the audience connect to the live element of the show.
ER Productions joined Pete Tong, conductor James Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra for the Ibiza Classics arena tour, which kicked off in December 2017.
